Pressure
Original Xanga entry ↗What constitutes pressure?
Is it the constant reminder on what is expected from you? Or is it the nagging feeling at the back of your head which you can't seem to run away from?
Whatever the case, its building within me, in my head, my heart and my soul.
Constantly pressing against me, constantly making me feel it. I keep turning my back on it, willing it to go away, to disappear like the waves when they beat against the shore.
Its still there.
The pressure building, the wanting, the waiting. How to tai qi it away? Is it even possible?
That invisible line that we are constantly pushing and pulling against.
452 hours and counting.
How long more before its finally lifted?

pressure is always going to be there, it comes from internal and external sources, it can be your boss or client expecting you to complete a task or your own pride telling yourself that you can do better. it motivates people, give them drive to complete tasks and get through life. even though most times it doesn't seem that way and looks more likely to drive you crazy and eventually to your grave.
the only way i can think of to relieving some of that pressure is to set your own goals in every task you do, it doesn't even have to be related to the task you are doing. even if it is something as simple as getting a client to like one of your ideas in a list of 100 ideas you have show the client or getting some free time from your heretic schedule for a cup of coffee. when that personal goal is achieved, enjoy 100% of the fact that you accomplished that simple goal and everything else that goes your way is just a bonus.
it might sound simple minded and underachieving but life is made up of simple things. who is to say that the simple things in life are not important? dealing with pressure, i believe it is a matter of choosing who to please, yourself or someone else. i rather be happy myself since it is impossible to make everyone happy.
it doesn't matter if pressure is always there or what constitutes it, all that matters is how you make the process of getting pressured enjoyable for yourself.
