Tipping Point

Original Xanga entry ↗

Been facing alot of problems at work and having a hard time trying to get everything done because there just aren't enough hours in a day! Even if you gave me 48 hours in a day, I doubt I'll be able to fit everything in.

I remember very clearly at the beginning of this year, I had brought up my concern about the scope of my work and the addition of certain accounts to my portfolio. My concerns were heard, debated on and ultimately ignored.

"We'll add manpower if its required."
"Whatever you can't handle, I'll take it on myself."
"Don't worry, I'll take care of it, you just focus on XYZ."

The actual scenario

"What's on your plate? Oh, can you take care of this for me as well?"
"Oh shit, I forgot to get ABC's number/email/namecard. Could you find out for me?"
"What meeting/concall? Really? Got meh? I never receive the email. Do I have to go/attend?"

Sure, we can all be account managers and be your PA at the same time. Each of us just dropping whatever we're doing to entertain your every need and desire. Doesn't matter that you matrix so much that sometimes we waste so much time doing something that one person could have handled in the first place. OR we arrange for meetings that you say you will attend and in the end, you forget/you're late/you come along and talk about something that has totally no relevance, thus rendering the entire meeting a complete waste of time.

I'm running low on energy and honestly seriously need a break at some point. I've been pushed so far towards the brink of no return that its not even funny anymore. While there used to be off peak, peak and super season, it has now become peak, super peak and UBER SUPER DUPER ULTRA PEAK which has taken up basically 50% of the last 6 months. Sure, we got a bit more money out of it. But at what cost? Our life?

Yes, I haven't been able to concentrate at all. I'm torn between all my different accounts and responsibilities. I can't keep things straight because I'm constantly playing catch-up. Thanks for thinking I can multitask so well, but honestly. I'm struggling and failing because I just don't have the motivation/drive or energy to keep doing this day in, day out, with no end in sight.

We all get tired sometimes, especially when we work almost 24/7. As much as I feel the loyalty towards you and the responsibility towards Procon, I cannot help but become tired and demoralised when the mountain never seems to get smaller. I get depressed when I realise that no matter how hard I fight for it, I'm still going to end up back at square one because we're just not getting any solutions. We're just struggling cos we don't have a system in place and everything is just getting thrown at everyone.

At what point do you draw the line and decide that you can't give anymore?

At what point do you stop caring and just stop giving a fuck?

At what point do you tell yourself enough is enough?

At what point do you just give up?

Wherever the point is, it sure feels like its creeping up real fast...

Eh.. you neeeeed a vacation.. i keep saying that! you need to just set a date in advance.. let everyone konw that when that happens YOU.. WILL.. NOT.. BE.. THERE.. no matter what happens till that point.. you will be gone.. thats how it is.. if stuff gets scheduled during that time.. they will have to handle it.. cus you will be gone.. sipping martini's.. getting a massage.. visiting friends/family.. and care not about the place you call work!

Set the date.. once the date is set in stone.. the planning helps pass the time!.. gives you something to look forward to..

DooooEEEEET

and get your visa ;P even if its not here that you go

ah well....you can only live for yourself & the choices you make.

i have always said - life is about the choices you make.

if you had enough, do something about it

if you dont do anything, means that you accept the situation, irregardless of how hard it is

this is a stressful period - lets see how we survive this, or do we even survive at all
