Original Xanga entry ↗*sigh* I am not sure if I did the right thing now. I'm allowing Sharen, my little friend to stay at my place while she works out her differences with her mother. Apparently, her mother is the type of mum who locks her child up at home 24 hours a day, expecting her to study and not do much else. Typically Asian type... Well, Sharen is a tad too intelligent for that kinda shit, so she ran away... The catch in this? She spoke to her dad and her dad actually assisted her by giving her a lift to my place and handing her some money. However, later on, he came knocking on my door at 12 midnite, in an attempt to persuade her to go home, before her mum arrives back in Singapore today. She was going to run away to LA, to live with some friends there, but then realised she didn't have the cash, so she's bunking with me for now, while she gets a job and gets the cash.
So why am I worried? Because she has never had a job before, never worked and never knew the hardship of living poor. never had to go days with just $1 in her pocket. never had to live on instant noodles and water for 2 whole weeks. never seen the difficulty in getting a job. never had to deal with rejection at interviews. never heard the "we'll call you" phrase. Granted, she's 18 and it's about time that she learn to stand on her own 2 feet. However, it beats me why she doesn't realise she should think for her future and just finish junior college before moving to something else. That certification does mean something, no matter how much we all hate studying.
Well, right now, she has gone home for a "showdown" with her mother... I'm still curious on how things will turn out, but we shall see.
On another hand, I have a new subscriber !~~ *yay*. A nice big shout out to Buffalo who writes some really nice poems... everyone can check out his site... and he looks really fit too
I am trying to be positive recently, working towards just hanging onto positivity and trying not to think too much. Some days, melancholy overcomes me and I have this compulsive feeling to just sit down and cry away. However, thankfully, I don't do that and instead I just try to ride it away. Someday, I will be strong enough to not use crying as an escape anymore...
