A big thank you to the few people who replied to my previous weblog, and gave me so much encouragement. I do want to start out again... and I am hoping things get better. Taking MyxlDove's advice, I have decided to try and patch up my friendship with Emily, by starting afresh and getting to know her all over again. Sent her an ICQ message with "Hi, My name is Olivia, What's your's? Can we be friends?" I'm wondering if this is going to work...

Anyhow... I went out and got myself a new phone today. (yes, if you read my earlier blogs, you'll know how my phone died on me) :-P *grin* Totally outrageous cos I'm totally broke as it is... but I decided that since I'm paying by instalments and there is minimal interest rate, might as well spoil myself a bit. I'm probably gonna regret this and groan every month from now on... but oh well, for now, I am absolutely happy. Bought myself a new nifty and totally cool Nokia 8250 which has a nice blue LED light as a background ;-) Doesn't everyone just LOVE blue? I mean it's sooooo cool. *has this silly "I love my new toy" grin on her face* :-)

Anyhow, I had a pretty okay nite. Had my little "pet" Sharen over at my house last nite... I'm probably leading her astray by letting her sleep over at my place while her mum is away at her grandparents and her brother is at camp... but she was feeling lonely... and well... she's been stressed a bit and needed some fun. We talked to way deep into the night... like til 6 am... and I'm feeling the after-effects of it now <falling asleep on my keyboard while in the office :-P > In a way, I think I've taken her under my wing because I see alot of me in her when I was her age... at 18, I had the exact same thoughts as her in wanting to leave home and move somewhere to aviod my family. I'm glad I didn't though and that I stuck to them.

Well, that's all I have to say for now... quote of the day will come later, when I've settled in for the day, and sorted out some stuff. In the meantime, here is a thought :- (Anyone who has read Edding's Belgariad Series would recognise this)

If a sound is made in the woods, but no one is there to hear it, can it still be considered as a sound?

I'll let everyone know the verdict later on ;-)

ahh the age old philosphical question, just like what is the sound of one hand clapping... a friend of mine and i agreed on the outcome of this - we decided that it was all to do with perception and whether you're an optimist or pessimist - an optimist would believe that the tree, or hand would still make the sound and could still be considered a sound...and for me, that's pretty much what i think :-) just cause there's nothing there to hear it doesn't mean it doesn't sound of anything :-D

a very interesting site here...glad i stumbled across it :-)

That is a really good question about the sound in the woods and you really had me thinking.  I say that yes, the sound is still a sound.

I'm glad I could be a support to you hon. I do wish you the best as you work out your friendship with Emily. It's also great to know that there are people like you who are giving back, and encouraging others like Sharen, even in the midst of your circumstances. Very admirable. Take care. :-)

Thanks for all your loving support chickie! You are the greatest! Whenever I felt like pulling my hair out, you were there with an encouraging word. I hope to one day return the favor. Not that I want anything bad to happen to you, but if it does I would be there for you in a minute! *hugs*

Well... energy is everlasting, it continuously traverses constantly.  A sound would be manifestation of energy.. so, it would be a sound wave, travelling upon the currents of air until it hits something, then bounces off, ricocheting around....

anyhoo's, yeah, it's still a sound.  we define sound as an audible thing that comes from anything.  if the hearer has like, an working eardrum that can sense the vibrations, then it's all good.

sheesh, i'm not making much sense!  had a late night...  tired now!  ;P

Well, actually according to science, as long as there is air in any space, any sound made is considered a sound. The only time when a sound is not heard is within a vacuum, and that will be when it's NOT a sound ;-)
