Typhoon Hits Singapore?

Original Xanga entry ↗

I went to the Strip@Cathay today for a Brazilian and guess what I saw when I was trying to walk to Plaza Sing? It was POURING! Literally POURING. The rain was so heavy, you couldn't see anything through it and on top of it, the wind was so strong, it did the following:

A van pinned under a tree that had fallen across the road.

The stretch of road that has 3 trees fallen at different sections.
Fortunately, as far as I could see, no one was hurt, although I'm not sure the van didn't suffer some minor damage. A tree is fairly heavy after all. The entire road leading from Plaza Sing to the main road was blocked by these trees that had fallen and all the drivers trying to get out from that area was carefully trying to maneuver so that their vehicles didn't get scratched.

It is quite dangerous to have so many trees falling on the same stretch of road, within such a short period of time too. You can imagine how strong the wind was. I'm glad I wasn't walking along the path when it happened.

The rainy season has gone on fairly long and doesn't look like its about to cease. I wonder how long more its going to go on and whether we'll be seeing more typhoon type storms. I'm definitely investing in some rain boots if thats the case.

Ha that reminds me of when i was living in hawaii.  Was walking home one day from something or other, and noticed a house around the corner of mine *in this particular area we had single floor single dwelling houses* had a HUGE hole in the middle of the living room roof.  During the night a palm tree had fallen through.

Can you imagine.. lol.. big ass noise in teh middle of the night of a storm and go into your living room to find a big tree..
