Mahjonging & Multitasking...

Original Xanga entry ↗

So I'm sitting here, in between Mahjong games and wondering about my apparent multi-tasking skills. I think its has something to do with my brain functioning on different levels while I play mahjong. On one hand, I'm playing mahjong. On the other hand, I'm happily msning various people plus checking forums and reading blogs.

I guess I've reached the state in mahjong playing whereby I don't really think when I play. Once I see the cards, I decide what I am going to do and my subconcious just takes over. I can then focus my mind on all the other random things that need to be done. That also explains how I multitask at other things as well. I have this auto-pilot switch in my brain that somehow manages to handle alot of misc things while I focus the real brain power on stuff that needs my attention.

I often chat with as many as 10 people at once, while I am surfing the net, randomly posting on forums and sometimes watching TV at the same time.

Does this mean that I don't focus on people 100%? I don't think that is the case. I think most of the time, my attention is diverted equally, but I just happen to read and type rather fast. It all comes from many years of training on IRC, Prophecy and of course, IMing. I remember when I first started using IMs. It was on ICQ. Gradually shifted to AIM, then MSN. Now MSN is my IM of choice. Got to love how Microsoft is taking over the world.

I'm glad that I was blessed with some gifts. Whatever it is, I think God is fair. He gives me some bad stuff, in exchange for some of the good stuff. Now its up to me how I intend to utilise the good and neutralise the bad.

Life is good afterall :)
