Unexpected Great Late Night Out

Original Xanga entry ↗

A one on one dinner with Lisa tonight turned into a 5 woman boardgames marathon and its seriously been a while since I laughed so much!

It all started when Lisa arranged to meet me at Food For Thought near Bugis for dinner. She just got back from Japan on Monday and we were keen to do some catchup in regards to her trip and various other things that were happening. Before I managed to even leave my house, Yan called and asked if she could meet for dinner as well. And so there were 3. I then remembered that Irene was at the gym at Bugis, so I smsed her to see if she wanted to join us. She did, so it then became 4.

After we met, we walked to Food for Thought and to our horror, we found it closed for a private party!

Undeterred, we proceeded to Purvis Street for dinner. After browsing the menu at The Mind Cafe we settled for having Hainanese food for dinner before going back for some boardgames. During dinner, Lisa presented me with her gifts from Japan that were in place of the vending machine which she had failed to get me.

A postcard, umbrella and Princess Hello Kitty handphone dangly
Now I will never have an excuse not to bring an umbrella out, especially since this umbrella is so uber cute! Its absolutely tinny and fits perfectly into most of my bags :) It has a heart shaped nose! Oink Oink!

By the time we were done with dinner, Minds Cafe was full, so we headed back to Bugis to walk around. In the process, we persuaded Yan to get her virgin piercing. She was resisting all the way due to her fear of pain, but we managed to convince her to "JUST DO IT!"

Me with Yan after sharing her virgin experience with her.

Yan looking all COOL after her piercing. (Its all an act! She was totally wimping out while in the store! Heehee!)
Not long after this, the cafe called and informed us that our table was ready. We proceeded back to Minds Cafe and while we were on the way, Shariene called. We then found out that Shariene, who was supposed to join us, was stuck on a train because it had broken down somewhere along the East-West line. The poor thing was already in a rush to join us because she was hungry and wanted dinner asap. But she was just so damn suaaaaay to miss the train which was pulling out just as she got to the station. And the next train that came along ended up getting her stranded for almost an hour. By the time she managed to join us, it was already 11 pm and she was definitely starving! Irregardless, in between wolfing down her lasagna, she managed to play quite a few games with us.

One of the first games we played - True Colours, where we discovered that most of us think Lisa is from another planet, Yan is most unlikely NOT to lie, Shariene is a toughie, Irene is most likely to turn up at a formal party in slippers and cutoffs and I'm most suitable for hosting a cooking show.

We didn't expect to stay so long at Minds Cafe, but the more we played, the more fun and laughter we had, so we ended up being the last customers to leave at almost 3 am. I totally enjoyed this unexpected late night out, especially since it gave us a chance to get to know each other better. (Shariene, you totally can't be a waitress!)
In other news, Juicy Couture has hit the stores! Saw this at a watch shop while we were walking around Bugis. Maybe I should add this to my X'mas wishlist, just for kicks! No Omega Constellation, a Juicy Couture would do as well :P
OH! And I almost forgot! We walked past a pet store and were totally mesmerised by the
hamsters in the shop. I am SOOOOO buying a pair of hamsters soon. I need
some furry company and hamsters seem to be the way to go. They are so
adorable and much lower maintenence than dogs and cats. The only real
problem would be you can't exactly cuddle them. But I think I'll settle
for just stroking them and holding them against my cheek. I blame
Shariene for my sudden hamster craze. Her beefball pic on msn is just
toooooo adorable.

That's all the news for today. It was truly a great night out and the best part, I had loads of fun and no alcohol was even involved! YAY! Thank you Lisa, Yan, Irene and Shariene! Let's do this again sometime soon!
