Cooking & Baking

Original Xanga entry ↗

Had a sudden urge to cook today. Woke up fairly early to go to Carrefour and buy ingrediants. Shepherds Pie for lunch which ended up being for dinner and Tiramisu cake for dessert. Forgot to take pics of the completed product until the first bites had been taken. Nevertheless, decided to take some pics after. Think it tasted good enough to satisfy my beef and potatoes craving. Not sure about the cake, cos I don't take anything with coffee, but first reviews are promising

Tiramisu Cake with a Twist
Cooking can be theraputic. Used to cook every weekend back in Perth. Cooking and baking today made me think of the good old days when the gang would come over on weekends and I would cook up a feast while they played mahjong. Everything from chicken rice, nasi lemak and rojak to chilli crab, laksa and even popiah. During exam period, I would bake batches and batches of cookies for everyone and give them away in jars. Things are different back in SG since you can just buy those foods at any hawker centre.

I like cooking because it makes me feel so happy when everyone tucks into the food I've cooked. Cooking for me is a labour of love and I will only cook for the people I really care about. That also explains why I always love to cook for my partner. Makes me happy to see them eat the food I've put effort into cooking.
