THE ONE WITH 7 DAYS AND A FUNERAL

Original Xanga entry ↗

What a big difference 7 days can make.

7 days ago, I came home to find my father cold in his favourite living
room chair. While I can understand the concept of life and death, at
the moment when you are faced with it, I doubt that anyone can fully
comprehend it.

He had a peaceful look on his face. Kinda like how he looks when he has
fallen asleep in his chair sometimes. At first I was really very angry.
At the doctors for not diagnosing him properly, at them treating it
like a common cold...  At myself for not taking his illness more
seriously and bringing him to the chinese physician instead of
insisting on bringing him to the hospital for a checkup. At my dad, for
leaving us so suddenly, not even allowing Kent to see him one last time.

But above all, I suppose everything happens for a reason.

The past 7 days have taught me a bit about facing my fears.

1) A dead issn't really a dead body when its the body of someone you love.
2) No matter how bright a silver lining is, there's always a dark cloud in front of it.
3) Loneliness can grip you, even when you're surrounded by many people.
4) Chinese culture can be tedious, but they are a source of some comfort at times.
5) Death doesn't mean you lose someone forever, because you'll always have the memories
6) Sleeping with the lights on can be theraputic
7) When all else fails, a good cry and a tight hug can change the tides.

Rest in peace Pa, we'll remember you always...
