THE ONE ABOUT TRIP USA (PART 4 - BRUNSWICK -> FOXWOOD -> PROVIDENCE -> BOSTON)

20th September 2005

We woke up pretty late and therefore ending up setting off only
at about 11nish. We packed everything into the car, including my box of
strawberries and the MUST HAVE condensed milk. The drive went ok,
although at one point, we had to get some McDonalds cos both me and
Denny were hungry :P We got to Foxwoods at around 4ish and spent some
time queuing at the check-in counter. The room that we got was niceeee
with a great view of the hills and woods behind the resort. After we
got ourselves comfy, we went down and hit the tables at the casino. I
spent an hour playing blackjack with Denny sitting next to me, just to
end up being $10 up I think.

We then decided to walk around and look for Hard Rock Cafe so that I
could buy Irene's shot glass. Eventually we found the Hard Rock and
then we bought shot glasses, after which we got chinese takeaway to
bring upstairs to eat in our room.

Me and mom with the revolving statue of a near naked man in the background :P
We were supposed to go back down to play
somemore after dinner, but I ended up talking on the phone to Chris and
fell asleep after. I thought I set the alarm to go off at 2 am, but
apparently I had failed in doing so. Thus, Denny and I got up at 5 am
instead, and totally missed the nightscene of the casino... LOL. (Sorry
D, that was my fault!!!) We were meant to get drunk that night too :P

21st September 2005

So anyhow, we got up and went looking around for my mom who had went
downstairs at around midnight. We couldn't find her and instead I blew
$60 on a table of blackjack *cry* When we went back up to the room, we
found my mom there, eating the leftovers from our dinner earlier. She
had seen us walk past her table, but apparently we hadn't noticed her :(

So Mom wanted to nap for a bit. We all napped, then took showers,
checked out of the hotel, dumped our stuff in the car, then proceeded
to have more fun. Mom went to the roulette tables and while I was
sitting there, made a killing and won like $500 bucks! It was fun
because the dealer at the wheel was real nice and kept hitting the
numbers that Mom bet on. After a while, we decided to look for food and
thats when I managed to snap more pictures of the resort.

Me and Mom with the statues of some shepherdess and her sheep (Maybe it was Mary and her little lambs?)

Mom, all cool and posing in front of the fountain thing

Me and Mom in front of the fishie display. Note how Mom looks sleepy
even though she has her big bottle of ice cold coffee with her!

My uber nice black jacket, black skirt outfit!

I like this picture because of how it captures my glowing happy self!

This one is good too, although Denny's photo taking skills sometimes
leaves much to be desired... (You need to steady your hands! DAMNIT!)

And yet again, D's shaky hand strikes! LOL

After much debate between Denny and me,
we decided to try our luck at poker. We finally figured out that they
were playing $2-$4 Texas Hold 'Em and we found out how to join the
tables. We sat down at different tables and Denny definately had a hard
time pulling me away. IT WAS SOOOOO FUN! I had never had so much fun
playing poker. It wasn't alot of pressure, and I thought I did real
good. I won a few pots and even though by the time Denny managed to
drag me away, I was $8 down, but HEY, it was fun and I wouldn't mind
going back to play again!

So we had to leave by about 8ish because we had to go to Providence to
meet Kory and go to Dave and Busters. Unfortunately, when we DID get
there quite late in the evening and zoomed to Dave and Busters, IT WAS
CLOSED FOR A PRIVATE EVENT!!! OMG!!! How wrong was that? It sucked! But
it was cool that I met Kory and we got to hang out.

Even though he had to work the next morning, he still stayed up and we
played Monopoly. At first, Kory was winning, cos he got lucky... but
Denny and I managed to fend him off and the game ended up with ME
WINNING! *YAY* Well, in all actual fact, Kory gave up cos it was 3 am
and he had to work at 8 am. That and he felt the game wasn't going
anywhere :P But still... HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHA Let's do a rematch sometime
Kory! And I swear this time, I'll fight to ensure you don't get those
damn railroads!

22nd September 2005

So Denny woke me up in the morning for me to say bye to Kory. I
insisted we take a picture, cos I thought I wasn't going to get to see
Kory again later.

Here is Kory, Me and my Tabby Dog in front of D & K's fridge cos we couldn't find a better place to take the picture
I got in the car with Denny and Kory and
got to see the Citizen's bank where Kory worked. On the way back after
dropping Kory off, Denny and I bought some Burger King breakfast. Its
nice to know that they have the mini round hash in America, just like
they do in Singapore. Kory had decided to try and get the afternoon off
so that we could go to Dave and Busters together. He called later and
told us that he COULD do that. So we picked him up at about noon and
headed to Dave and Busters.

Seeing as how I had heard so much about Dave and Busters, it was
interesting to finally go to the store. It was pretty much what I had
expected it to be. Was funny how my mom was really excited and went
around playing the ticket games. She was really good and even managed
to hit the jackpot on one of them.

Mom in front of the machine where she won 250 tickets from the jackpot
Because Denny and Kory had so many cards
and credits left from when they worked there, we were able to have alot
of fun and I won quite some tickets myself. We saved all the tickets up
and traded them for some goodies!

At the winner's circle where we had just cashed in a bunch of tickets for prizes! :)
We also played pool and had lunch there.
I beat both Denny and Kory at pool! HAHAHAHAHA. The black ball happens
to love me :) The pasta at D&B was pretty good and I tried a bit of
Mom's salad which was great too!

Us happily getting our picture taken after the great great lunch which
Kory refused to let me pay for! (I will get the tab next time!)

Me showing off my pool skills (NOT!)

At the entrace of Dave and Busters!

We left D&B at around 3ish cos we were supposed to go meet Lisa for
dinner in Boston. Before we left, we stopped for some Ben and Jerrys
ice-cream! *YAY* and we also stopped at the cheesecake factory,
although we didn't buy any cos I didn't feel like it. (Yes I know, how
can anyone not feel like cheesecake?)

In front of Ben and Jerry's in Providence Mall.
We went back to Denny and Kory's to get our stuff before heading off to Boston. But not before getting some last pictures taken with Kory!

Kory wearing the shirt I had actually got for Denny, in front of their apartment house.

It sucked that I only got to spend so
little time with Kory, but I was really glad he got time off from work
so we could have some fun together. We left Providence at around 4ish
whereby we headed to Boston to meet Lisa and Allan. Unfortunately, we
got stuck in the great big jam and only managed to arrive there at
around 7ish, 8. First stop was of course Harvard Square, where we met
up with Lisa and Allan and proceeded to park the car. We then proceeded
to take photos with that Harvard dude.

We were all pretty hungry, so Lisa and
Allan brought us to this great little Thai place to have dinner. Well,
we were meant to go to another place, but it was pretty packed, so we
walked further away to another place which still had great Thai food.
The mango salad was just OOOMMMPPPPPP! After dinner, we dropped Mom off
at Allan's dorm so she could rest her feet and play somemore online
league mahjong while we headed down to Hard Rock Cafe to get another
shot glass for Irene. We had to hurry cos we were afraid it might be
closed. It was interesting to take the train and it wasn't that much
different from the trains in Singapore, although it is much more
advanced here. We use tap cards while they use an old coin system
there. We got to Hard Rock Cafe in plenty of time and even had time to
walk around looking at closed shops. We stopped at a Baskin and Robbins
to get a drink before heading back to pick Mom up.

We got back pretty late and had to set
off as we still had about 3 hours of driving ahead of us. It was great
to have met Lisa and Allan and although we didn't get to see much of
Boston, I did like the city atmosphere that I saw. Very college town,
yet very nice and friendly. Wouldn't mind living there.

We drove through the night and I fell asleep in the car cos it had been
such a long day. We finally arrived home, back in Brunswick at around 2
am and I went to sleep almost immediately because of how exhausted I
was!
