THE ONE WITH 7 NEON TETRAS, 3 SUCKERFISH, 8 GUPPIES AND 2 BABY GUPPIES

So last week, Ray bought me a fish tank. Together with the fishtank, we acquired 7 neon tetras, 5 female guppies, 3 male guppies and 1 oto fish (commonly known as suckerfish). when I got home and set up the tank, the 1st thing my brother said was "Why you buy 'longkang' fish?" For those who don't understand, longkang means drain, so my brother essentially means I bought fish that can commonly be found in the drain. I was not amused... Immediately after exclaiming how ugly and plain my fish were, he continued to comment on how tiny my suckerfish was. The conversation went something like this:

BRO :( Peering into the newly setup fishtank)Wah, why you buy longkang fish?
ME:This is not longkang fish ok! Ray spent good money to buy the pretty fish I picked!
BRO:Dun bruff lah... Must be you pick up from the drain right? How come you never buy suckerfish? Every tank must have a suckerfish you know?
ME :( pointing to the little oto in the corner)There's my suckerfish, look, so cute!
BRO:Kaoz, you buy so small suckerfish, how he going to suck anything? The tank so big, can't even see him leh! Useless fish man!
ME:I bought a small one so it can slowly grow bigger mah!
BRO:Wah liew, you buys something so small, before he suck anything, he get suck by the filter liao lor! Somemore your tank no sand, gravel or plants, how he gonna survive?
ME :( Exasperated by now)Aiya, wad do you know about fish? Forget it lah, dun talk to you liaos!

I ended up going back to the shop the next day to purchase a piece of driftwood with a plant on it and also 2 more little suckerfish. (I hate it when my brother makes sense -.-)

Anyhow, last night, while I was admiring my tank, I noticed 2 baby guppies swimming underneath the leaves of the plant! YAY! I'm a fish mommy! Unfortunately, when I got up this morning, I could not find them again. However, when I get off work today, I'm going to go buy a breeder net and hang it in my tank so the baby guppies can be protected from the adult fish who obviously see them as food!

I really love fish :) Makes me feel so calm and happy. I can just sit in front of the tank and watch them all day...

Maybe you shouldn't give a crap what your brother thinks. I sure don't when my sis criticizes every little thing. Sure they make sense, but when's the control going to stop? You should be proud of your little fella!

What a coincidence. I'm very fond of the smell of fish.
