THE ONE WITH THE HYSTERICAL MOM

For those who are vaguely familiar with my mom, you'll know she met a guy on ICQ, went to America and got married in Elvis' Little White Chapel in Vegas. Of course this gives the impression that she is mildly more "hip" then most mothers and that she would be at least competant with the computer and the internet.

Unfortunately, she's hopeless! I remember once when I was still working as technical helpdesk support in Singnet, she called me up at work and I spent like 1 hour talking her through on how to check her hotmail email account. She gave up in the end and said she would wait til I get home to show her.

So since she recently purchased 2 new computers, I had Denny and Kory go up to Maine and help her get her wireless network set up. From the word go, it was meant to be a disaster. They spent an entire day and a half there and before they left, they told her that the wireless network was at most "iffy" and that if a problem arose, she should just wait as it was probably wireless crossed signals. Fast forward 2 weeks and the worst has happened. The wireless went down yesterday and despite efforts to bring it back to life, insists on playing dead. After 5 hours of my frantic typing with my mom trying various network solutions I gave her and 10 mins of my mom screaming and crying at me on the phone, she's finally decided to give up and go to bed.

How I wish I could just pop over to her house and get it fixed up. It's so ironic that I've fixed SOO MANY wireless networks for friends and can't even help my own mother. To hear her feeling so frustrated to the point of tears just makes me so sad. Wish I could just give her a hug and let her know that everything will be alright. *sigh*
