Further Evidence
Original Xanga entry ↗We were on our way to watch a play at Victoria Theatre today and I was once again struck by how crowded public transportation has become.
2:30 pm on a Sunday afternoon and this is the state of the MRT train from Dhoby Ghaut to City Hall.

Packed to the brim, just like sardines

Massive crowd of people once we exited the train
Seriously speaking, I can understand crowded trains during the peak hours. Everyone rushing to work or everyone rushing home. But come on! This is a Sunday afternoon! People should be at home watching TV or something. Why is everyone on the damn train to town? Is Singapore truly over-populated now? Or are the bigwigs just simply ignoring the comforts of the little people by increasing fares and decreasing bus & train frequencies?
Either way, something needs to be done about this before some nut job goes crazy and tries to bomb a bus or a train. Packed vehicle = more victims. So the people up there, PLEASE DO SOME DAMN THING!

hey, guess you had forgotten... yesterday was the last day of IT show.
that's explained why the train is soooo packed!! hahaha...

Eh, you shouldn't be asking why everybody is going to town on a Sunday when you yourself are headed that way for a specific reason.
That being said, I shall take your advice and stay home and watch tv this weekend.

This is ridiculous, so you're saying everyone should stay home on Sunday because you want to go out? Alright, next time you go out please let the whole world know so everyone can stay at home and let you have the train all for yourself. Besides, Sundays are family outing days and a weekend where people are free to enjoy themselves.

Actually, that's not what I am saying. I'm more annoyed by the fact that they have decreased train frequencies while upping the fares. I'm all for people going out with their families on Sundays. I personally avoid town areas on weekends, unless I have something on there. I'm just getting increasing annoyed by how packed the buses and trains are getting since they increased the taxi fares and decreased bus/train frequencies. Some kind of balance needs to be struck here. It is most frustrating when you are rushing somewhere and can't even get on the bus/train because it is packed to the brim.
Food for thought... No?
