Original Xanga entry ↗

Got up early this morning so we could go to the famous National Palace Museum  of Taiwan. I was actually impressed with the collection of artifacts they had. Intricate carvings on jade and ivory, scriptures that look like they were printed instead of written and amazing woodwork so small and elaborate, its hard to believe it exists. I'm not much of an artifact fan, but I did enjoy the few hours I spent at the museum this morning, although I have to say their guided tour sucked and the lady who was leading had no presence. I much prefered walking around on my own. It was definitely something not to be missed if you visit Taiwan as it will make you extremely proud to be Chinese and if you're not, you will wish you were :P

We took the train to this station and took a cab to the musuem

I like the red

Me squinting at Dad outside the National Palace Musuem cos the sun decided to pay us a visit... FINALLY!
After the museum, we went to Xi Men Ding for lunch and Dad bought me a new suitcase as I really needed another one with all the stuff I had bought so far. He went back to the hotel after that and left me to shop on my own. I spent my day walking around Xi Men Ding, buying gifts for some people and browsing even more things for myself :P

Presidential Palace which is quite near to Xi Men Ding

Some hall where they hold meetings
After tiring myself out walking around Xi Men Ding with my new suitcase(which was now filled with stuff I bought), I hopped onto a cab and headed back to the hotel where I attempted to re-organise everything into the new suitcase and pack for our tour that begins tomorrow. Unfortunately, I got distracted on MSN and didn't get much done before we had to go for dinner.

Dinner was at a restaurant named Fu Wei Lou. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the place this time. The dinner was delicious! There was Peking Duck, San Wei Tang, Onion Pancake (which I normally hate, but loved this time), Gyoza and lots more. I'm definitely getting fat from all the mad food we've been eating! Dinners every night!

Me, Xiao Ting, Xiao Wei, Auntie, 5th Auntie, Grand Aunt, Grand Uncle, Uncle and Dad
I met Xiao Ting for the first time during dinner and OMG, she is so fun! We clicked instantly! She works as an editor with Bazaar Taiwan and after dinner, she brought me to Wu Fen Pu with her where I found loads of bargains on clothes! Wu Fen Pu is like clothes heaven! I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw the rows and rows of shops with rows and rows of clothes! Of course I restrained myself from going crazy and just bought a few pieces. The fact that most of the stuff was still autumn/winter items made it easier for me.

Just spent the past few hours attempting to pack for the tour tomorrow. Since we are leaving one suitcase here, I am trying to make sure all the unimportant items go in that suitcase so the one I am bringing is lighter and has more space for me to store anything I buy :P

I never knew Taiwan was such a shopping haven. I am really happy now! I found my shoes and clothes heaven here. Will definitely be coming here more, especially since I can get free accomodation!

May not be updating much over the next few days as we are beginning our Taiwan Islandwide Tour tomorrow which means a really tight schedule, different hotel every night, and possibly no internet. I will also probably be very tired. In any case, I will be back in Taipei on Saturday evening and heading back to Singapore on Sunday evening. As much as I am enjoying this trip, I can't wait to get back to Singapore either.

I miss you...

I was told they change the artifacts every 3 months. In order for u to finish looking at them u need 20 years! I can only say Chiang kai shek was such a robber ! He took the most valuable and most precious antique from China when he fled to taiwan.  What a thief !
