Cozy Dinner Numbah Two
Original Xanga entry ↗Had a great time tonight entertaining another group of friends for dinner. Different menu, different crowd, but still fun all the same. It's always so fulfilling when I get to cook for a group of people I care about. The sense of satisfaction I get from seeing them dig in and enjoying their food is so wonderful.
I had already decided I was going to cook a chinese menu earlier this week so I needed to amend the menu to remove any pork dishes because I had invited Halimah. This translated to more chicken, no pork and more seafood. The resulting menu was this...

(From top of photo)
Kai Lan with Oyster Sauce
Cereal Prawns
Honey Chicken with Egg Tofu
Steamed Pomfret with Tomatoes, Salted Vegetable & Mushrooms
Chicken Soup with Carrots & Potatoes
White Rice
We rounded up the meal with some wine and cheesecake with ice-cream for dessert. Much thanks to Jolene for two bottles of wine and to Jean & Jin for both their wine and dessert.
It was quite funny watching them try to teach Halimah how to play mahjong while some others were watching Constantine on DVD. Although the group was split up into 2 activities, I think everyone seemed to be enjoying a lazy Friday night indoors. To me it was a great way to start the weekend!
I'm definitely looking forward to holding more of such dinners. There are still a lot of recipes in the back of my mind to cook and I'm glad I've found a group of people who are more than willing to eat.
Once again, thank you Indu, Jolene, Irene, Jean, Jin, Halimah, Antoinette, Chris & Wei Wei for making this evening so enjoyable. I appreciate the fact that everyone came, no matter how tired you were after work. I promise that I will try to do this at least once a month, if not twice. Ok?

Great Friday night, loved the meals (how about opening a restaurant ?), thanks for the special effort you made with the ingredients
Thanks to everyone I'm now so addicted to Mahjong I'm probably gonna buy me a table and the whole set to go with my apartment when I get one.
And in 5 years I'll register in some international Mahjong competition or something.
Count me in for any other gathering like this one, I'll join everyone anytime !
