Original Xanga entry ↗THE ONE THAT COMES EVERY YEAR DURING MY BIRTHDAY
Every year, when it comes to this period, its a time of reflection and contemplation. And yes, its the time to be depressed.
I hate getting older, realising that yet another year has gone by that
not much has been accomplished. That I am still stagnant at the point
where I was a year before. Although 2005 brought about many changes, it
still does not give me a sense of achievement.
Had a thought on the train today... If I were walking along the beach,
and saw myself in the sea, struggling to get to shore, would I plunge
in to try and save myself? Or would I let myself drown? If someone else
were there, would they try to save me? Or would they stand by idly to
let me drown?
Liz and I were trying to plan what we are going to do for our joint
birthday this year and it struck us on how sad it was that year round
we are planning parties for people's birthdays, yet when it comes to
our own, no one gives a flying fuck.
Would anyone mourn if I drowned?
