Original Xanga entry ↗After browsing various weblogs of various friends, I've come to the conclusion that I have a very boring life and that I am a very boring person. Everyone else seems to be so interesting, witty, amusing, with tons of stories to tell and have so much culture in their life. The culture in my life is TV. Sad huh?
Been in Australia for almost 3 years and the furthest I have travelled is about 200 kms down south, whereas alot of my friends have travelled Europe, the Americas and even half of China! What have I been doing? Stoning right here in Victoria Park, Perth, Western Australia.
Anyways, enough of my whining... Let's talk about hair.
I have naturally frizzy and curly hair . I'm lucky enough that years of olive oil, mayo-wraps, baby lotion, hair straightening and countless nights of brushing has tamed my hair to a reasonable and manageble state. It has gotten to the point where I no longer face "Lion Hair" in the mornings. Enter Japanese technology and their revolutionary "hair straightening system" named "Rebonding". It supposedly uses the newest technique of ions rebonding to iron the hair straight (They seriously use a ceramic iron to iron the hair at very high temperature). Every Singaporean TV star goes and tries it and it becomes a resounding success. All my friends with frizzy hair goes and tries it and comes back with nice straight hair, raving about how great this new technique is. The catch? It costs S$200 to get it done on a short bob length hairstyle and that doesn't include the price of the treatment shampoos, conditioners and hair serums you have to buy. I sit back and wait, not having the S$600 to dish out for my long hair. I keep telling myself I don't need perfectly straight and non-frizzy hair, even though if my hair has been an obsession for a large part of my life.
Fast forward about 3 years. I finally sold out and got my hair done right here in Perth. Of course after 3 years, the price has gone down to only AUD$120 and the nice guy even gave me a bottle of shampoo to go with it. 6 months down the road, I still have relatively straight hair. I haven't gone back to get it redone, simply because I finally realised I didn't need to spend AUD$120 to have straight hair to make myself feel good. My hair is nice as it is. I like the little curls at the end. I like having that tiny bit of wave. And I like how rebonding has flattened parts of my hair which were impossible before. AND I like having AUD$120.
Terrible how the most interesting I can talk about is my hair...

not terrible.. hair is important.. my hair is quite thick, and not curly.. grows at an abhorant rate and took me YEARS to train to go back the way it does now.. *shudder* the pre-back days.. thems were bad days.. but i like my hair.. one of the few features of myself that i like.. so take pride in your hair

Heh, I had an unecessarily HUGE obsession with my hair at some point when I was younger, and I considered the straightening, the dyeing, the everything-you-can-possibly-do-with-your-hair song 'n dance. But I can honestly say now that no irons/dyes/whatnot have touched my hair, ever
Curly hair is nice leh. But its typical eh, all the laydeez with perfectly straight hair go mad with curling tongs, and all them laydeez with the lovely waves/curls go and iron them down.
Basically, toying with the straightness/curlyness of your hair is something that will not rest until you have tried it all. But in the end, you should be glad just to have hair
There we go. I managed to write philosphically about hair. Go me

I think I liked your curls T-T...
Well my hair is in a mess, I went for a hair cut, my sister decided to do "something" to it (yeah I'm a test subject for them) and now, KABOOM, my hair exploded and is unbelieveably volumous. *cry*
I still like my curls, and I'm glad that I never went for rebonding, coz you don't know how people envy my curls when they have to go pay $50 to achieve the same effect.
But now ... *looks at kaboomed hair* *sigh* I have to tie it up until the hair gets enough weight to stay flat.

First of all, I would like to say that well, curls rule!
Straight hair is for plebs! If you can't curl, you're not a girl!
Or something like that. Anyways. Just checked in, and noticed you updated, which was a nice surprise. And trust me, you have by far the least boring life in the world.
