Zoey spent the first day of the new year playing happily with her toys while Irene and I got some much needed sleep. She was extremely happy when she discovered she could run her new trains on her existing train tracks. So she had plenty of fun making Thomas and Percy run in circles around her play room.
After that, she decided she was going to bring Thomas and Percy to bed and while she was there, she tried to let Percy run on her head. Some kids get chewing gum stuck in their hair, my kid gets a train!
So I spent an hour this evening untangling a train from her hair. First I tried to unfurl her hair from the wheels and when that didn’t work, I had to dismantle Percy and remove his wheels before sniping off the little remnants that were left.
To Zoey’s credit, she laid there quietly for an hour while I pulled and tugged at her hair. While she protested once in a while about the pain, she endured it and trusted me to get it out of her hair. The whole incident made me realise what a loving and trusting daughter we have raised and that she truly believes that I will help her get out of whatever trouble she gets into.
In the meantime, she has promised not to put anymore trains on her head.
