This is the 3rd Mothers’ Day we are celebrating. It is also the first time Zoey has been old enough to be in school. So last week we got an invitation from Pony Running to be part of some Mothers’ Day activities. Unfortunately I had to work on Friday. Luckily, Zoey has 2 mothers, so Irene went along to the Mothers’ Day celebration. We are glad she did as almost all the little kids had their mothers there. It would have sucked if Zoey had been the only one without her mommy there.

Guess who is eating the sushi after it’s been made?

So I came home on Friday night and brought back a new toy for Zoey. I had promised her a toy a few days ago when she had been really good and I wanted to make up for missing Mothers’ Day in school with her. This toy stroller is now her absolute favourite toy, so much so she wanted to bring it into bed with her. She’s enjoying playing Mommy to Elmo, including stuffing him with a pacifier (that she herself wouldn’t take).
In return, I was told I would be getting a flower made by Zoey. This is what happened when she gave me the flower. She half broke my heart when she told me the flower was for teacher (??!!) Fortunately she changed her mind and gave me the flower in the end. 🙂
Zoey turns 26 months old tomorrow. These past 26 months have been absolutely precious. I feel my life has become richer and more meaningful because of Zoey. The experience of motherhood is everything I hoped it would be and more. She has given me more purpose, direction and inspiration. I know the years to come will get even better.
This Mothers’ Day I am grateful for being able to spend the whole day with Zoey. I woke up early and brought Zoey out for breakfast with Isaac and his paternal grandmother. This gave his maternal grandmother (also my Godma) a break. At the same time, Irene got some “me-time” to sleep in and work on a project. We Skyped with my mom this afternoon, took a nap together and went for dinner with my mother-in-law.
All in all a busy, but happy Mothers’ Day.
